LASUSU WELCOME SANWO-OLU AND FASHOLA TO 1ST LASU RESEARCH FAIR
It was another historic day in the history of Lagos State University as the University’s Students Union led by Comrade Oladele Tayo came with thousands of students came to welcome Lagos State Governor ably represented by Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education and the former Governor of Lagos State who also doubled as the Minister for Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola at the Lagos State University Vice Chancellor’s complex. The students welcome the dignitaries with trumpets, drums and Aluta songs not forgetting to appreciate the Vice Chancellor too.

The Non-Academic Staff Union too were seen with different banners and dressed in an Ankara uniform singing songs to appreciate Professor Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun (SAN). Part of the songs the union were singing was “Fagbohun ma ba se e lo Ise re ma nte wa lorun” among others. In the union mood no one needs to tell you that they are so comfortable with the administration of Professor Fagbohun.
The union also demanded that the government build more facilities for the university like Staff quarters, classrooms and improve the University staff welfare.
LASUSU PRESENTS AWARD TO SANWO-OLU AND FASHOLA
While Lagos State University Vice Chancellor, Professor Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun SAN was addressing the representative of the Governor, the guest speaker (Mr. Fashola) and others that are present in the Vice Chancellor’conference room, he made note to recognize the Students’ Union and invited them to present their awards to the minister and the governor.
The executive members of Lagos State University Students Union led by Comrade Oladele Tayo presented an award that signifies The struggle (in a reasonable manner and not radical) continues to Governor Sanwoolu and Mr. Fashola, they also presented an artwork of Mr. Fashola to him and another art showing Lasu community in support of Igbega Ipinle Eko to the governor.
BABATUNDE FASHOLA SAN, SPEAKS
Fashola said: “Having come this far to Badagry, I must also make comments about the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
“The road, alongside some others, were built in the 70s during the period of oil boom, but we have been complaining that nothing was done on the roads.
“I can confirm to you now that on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, sections have been awarded and works are ongoing.
The long Federal road has been awarded to three different contractors and they have commenced works on it you just need to be patient with Buhari’s administration and endure the pain that won’t last long.
NIGERIA’S BREAK UP IS A JOKE
The Minister also acknowledged in his speech that contrary to the belief or insinuation of some people that Nigeria will break is a joke taken too serious.
In his speech at Lagos State University, he reffered people to Marriage registry and advised that the people should visit for some Thursdays to see how people from different ethnic groups are marrying themselves. He said, “if Nigeria end up breaking how will these people divide their children?.”
THERE IS NEED FOR PROPER DATA FOR THE NATION TO DEVELOP – BABATUNDE RAJI FASHOLA SAN
The Minister have requested the best state university in Nigeria to help the government to achieve by providing her a proper and correct data of different sectors to help national planning.
SANWO-OLU ASKED LASU TO FIND SOLUTIONS TO LAGOS CHALLENGES THROUGH RESEARCH
Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Tuesday, 03rd of September 2019 charged the Lagos State University (LASU) to proffer solutions through research toward addressing the six pillars of developmental agenda of his administration.
Sanwo-Olu who spoke through his Special Adviser on Education at the first LASU Research Fair with the theme : “Driving National Development Through Research and Innovation.”
The governor said that the pillar of his administration’s developmental agenda tagged: “THEMES” which represented a drive for the state and future generations.
“I charge the university of Excellence to proffer solutions to the development of our six pillar agenda.
“As the governor, I assure you of our support for your research drive,” Sanwo-Olu said.

GOVERNOR SANWO-OLU OPENS 500 SEAT LASU CBT CENTRE
The World Class 500 seat Computer-Based Test [CBT] Centre constructed by the University in partnership with the Providus Bank PLC and Clayhall Properties Limited has been opened by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu, who was represented by the Special Adviser on Education, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab.
Mr. Sanwo-olu, while opening the ultra-modern complex immediately after Chairing the Opening Ceremony of the 1st LASU Research Fair, dedicated it to the glory of the Almighty God and the benefit of students of the University. He was supported by the Chairman, Governing Council, Prof. Adebayo Ninalowo, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, SAN, the Managing Director of Providus Bank, Mr. Walter Akpanyi and Chairman, Clayhall Properties, Mr. Ayo Ojuroye.
In his brief address, the Vice Chancellor praised the Providus Bank and Clayhall Properties for partnering the University to build the edifice, noting that the administration would leave no stone unturned to ensure that students study under the best condition possible.
The Managing Director, Providus Bank, Mr. Walter Akpanyi and Chairman, Clayhall Properties, Mr. Ayo Ojuroye, who both spoke later were also unanimous in expressing that the project would be of huge benefits to the students of the University.
Upon the opening, the Governor and other dignitaries were conducted round the fully-fitted complex by the Project Manager.
