The Lagos State Government has closed down many establishments that include hotels, churches, lounges, and other places for entertainment for violating the regulations against noise pollution and other environmental policies.
The team that enforced the operation was led by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), and they conducted this enforcement in places that include Shomolu, Oniru Victoria Island, Jakande-Lekki, Badore Ajah, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Sangotedo, Lekki II, Ogombo, and Lekki Phase 1.
The Lagos State Government agency, LASEPA, made it known through a post it shared on its X account that the places placed under lock contributed to excessive noise levels and also engaged in harmful practices that are capable of causing risks to public health and safety.
The agency also added that it is committed to creating an environment that is healthier, claiming that noise pollution disturbs the peace in the community and adversely impacts public health.
The operation conducted by the agency highlights the zero tolerance of the Lagos State Youth for environmental violations, including noise pollution, which has an impact on the residents’ quality of life.
LASEPA has also called on organizations and businesses to begin to comply with environmental regulations to avoid penalties.
