Lagos Assembly Members Impeach Speaker Obasa Over Corruption Allegations
RT. Hon Mudashiru Obasa, the speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has been impeached by 32 members of the assembly over accusations of financial misappropriation and corruption.
The former speaker was said to have been removed from office for alleged abuse of power and gross misconduct. Many of the allegations raised against him include spending N17 billion on a gate for the assembly complex—an expenditure that has generated criticism and has been labeled as fraudulent and excessive.
Obasa was also accused of misappropriating funds that were allocated for constituency projects.
