
Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu, the Governor of Lagos State, has signed the 2025 appropriation bill of ₦3.366 trillion into law on Thursday.
The named “Budget of Sustainability” was approved by the Lagos State House of Assembly in Alausa, Ikeja, and its aim is to address economic diversification, infrastructure, and many other critical sectors.
During the signing of the appropriation bill into law, the Governor appeals to both stakeholders and civil servants to ensure the budget is impressively implemented in 2025.
He also appreciated the speaker of the House of Assembly, RT. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, and other members of the parliament for a quick passage of the budget.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Hon. Ope George, in his statement mentioned that 62% of the budget will address capital expenditure while 38% of it will address recurrent spending. The commissioner stated that the government will not relent in efficient service delivery and infrastructure development.
Hon. Sa’ad Olumo, the chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation at the Lagos State House of Assembly, mentioned that the approved budget will address education, road infrastructure, electricity, and other needs of Lagosians.
The Governor had earlier, on November 21 last year, presented a budget of ₦3.006 trillion estimate to the Assembly, but the Assembly increased the budget and passed it on Monday, 6th of January, after a voice vote approval by the Joint Committee on Appropriation and Finance’s report.
