The Lagos State Government has begun the installation of boundary demarcation signposts at some strategic areas in the state to prevent encroachment, promote peaceful relationships among neighboring states and communities, and put a stop to boundary issues.
The signposts installation was revealed on Monday by the Lagos State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development in a post on its Facebook page.
Kikelomo Bolarinwa who is the Permanent Secretary of the ministry who spoke at the commencement of the initiative, mentioned that the most populous state in Nigeria will continue to ensure that community boundaries are clearly marked in respect to the official specification as done by the Office of the Surveyor-General.
She equally appealed to Lagos residents against destroying government properties, including the signposts, warning that those caught in the act would face appropriate punishments.
Places where the signposts are covered include Itokin-Ijebu Ode Road, Eredo-Epe around Mojoda, Ikorodu-Shagamu Road, Owode-Apa Road, Seme border and Ojodu-Alagbole Road.
The Lagos State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development stated that the installations align with the government of the day’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda and its vision of building a 21st-century economy.
