Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, wife of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, defended the Environmental Sanitation Exercise, describing it as a major way to maintain a cleaner, safer environment and promote public awareness across Lagos State.

The governor’s wife, who spoke in the October edition of the Sanitation Exercise alongside the Ikorodu Local Government chairman, Prince Adedayo Ladega, mentioned that continuous sensitisation is necessary for cleanliness, which should be a daily Exercise among citizens, despite criticisms of the return of the exercise.

The First Lady, who drew an analogy with safety announcements on aircraft, mentioned that further reminders will reinforce important safety practices and encourage responsible character.

She beseeched citizens to clean their homes, schools, streets, communities and markets daily and not to wait till the last day of every month for environmental sanitation.

Mrs. Sanwo-Olu stated that the state government will announce the winner of the upcoming cleanest local government contest soon, which will involve all 20 LGAS and 37 LCDAS.

The governor’s wife appealed to those who reside in Ikorodu Local Government to continue to participate in the sanitation Exercise and work towards being the winner of the cleanest local government in the state.
